AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO MR. JOSEPH L. JONES OF JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Mr. Joseph L. Jones of Jefferson Davis County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction for the crimes of armed robbery, kidnapping and grand larceny on June 28, 2002, in Smith County, Mississippi, for which he was sentenced to serve ten (10) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections for each crime of armed robbery and kidnapping followed by five (5) years probation.  He was also sentenced to serve three (3) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections followed by five (5) years probation for the crime of grand larceny.

     He completed all terms and conditions of his sentence and was discharged on March 4, 2016.  The Legislature is informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
