House Bill 1764

AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO WILLIE DISHMON OF PANOLA COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Willie Dishmon of Panola County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction for the crime of burglary non-residential on August 21, 1995, in Panola County, Mississippi, for which he was sentenced to five (5) years supervised probation until such was revoked due to a conviction of burglary non-residential on December 12, 1997, and sentenced to serve one (1) year in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.  He was discharged on July 23, 1998.  

     On July 27, 2005, he was convicted for grand larceny and sentenced to serve one (1) year in the custody of the Mississippi  Department of Corrections, followed by five (5) years of supervised probation and four (4) years of unsupervised probation.

     On May 19, 2011, he was convicted and sentenced for the crime of grand larceny, was ordered to serve three (3) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, followed by four (4) years probation and to complete a long-term Drug and Alcohol program.

     He was released on February 2, 2012, and discharged on September 18, 2012.  The Legislature is informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
