House Bill 1701

AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO JAY W. JACKSON OF HINDS COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Jay W. Jackson of Hinds County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction on September 9, 2011, in Rankin County for the crime of robbery, and who was sentenced to serve in the Regimented Inmate Program in the custody of the Department of Corrections.  He completed and was released from the Regimented Inmate Program on May 10, 2012, to serve a five year probation term.  He completed his probation and was discharged on April 8, 2016.  The Legislature is informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
