House Bill 1674
AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO KAMAL KARRIEM, JR., OF LOWNDES COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Kamal Karriem, Jr., of Lowndes County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction in Lowndes County, Mississippi, on November 21, 2005, for the crime of embezzlement, and who was sentenced to serve five (5) years probation with the Department of Corrections. Due to a probation violation, Kamal Karriem, Jr.'s probation was revoked and he was sentenced on April 11, 2008, to the custody of the Department of Corrections. He was released to House Arrest on June 2, 2009. He was discharged on January 6, 2016. The Legislature is informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
