House Bill 1634

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF HINDS COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO PAY A CERTAIN PER DIEM, AS LONG AS THE PER DIEM DOES NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY DOLLARS IN THE AGGREGATE PER MONTH, TO CERTAIN VOLUNTEER LOCAL BOARD MEMBERS WHO SERVE THE COUNTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The Board of Supervisors of Hinds County, Mississippi, is authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to pay each volunteer member a per diem in an amount as determined by the board of supervisors for each day, or portion thereof, spent in the performance of his or her duties in the following capacities for the county:

          (a)  Hinds County Economic Development Authority Board of Trustee;

          (b)  Hinds County Human Resource Agency Board of Director;

          (c)  Emergency-911 Council Member;

          (d)  Hinds County Mental Health Commissioner; and

          (e)  Jackson/Hinds Library System Board of Trustee.

     (2)  No volunteer member of a local board of the county, as prescribed under subsection (1) of this section, may be paid more than One Hundred Twenty Dollars ($120.00) in the aggregate per month for his or her services.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
