House Bill 1632

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING FOR THE TRAINING OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION AND COMMUNITY AND JUNIOR COLLEGE PERSONNEL INVOLVED IN THE INVESTIGATION OR RESOLUTION OF ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, DATING VIOLENCE, OR STALKING, OR IN THE CONFIDENTIAL ADVISING OF STUDENTS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2019.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any monies in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Board of Trustees of the State Institutions of Higher Learning for the training of higher education institution and community and junior college personnel involved in the investigation or resolution of alleged sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, or stalking, or in the confidential advising of students, as required under House Bill No. 1438, 2018 Regular Session, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2018, and ending June 30, 2019............. $ 175,000.00

     SECTION 2.  Of the money appropriated by this act, the board of trustees shall provide the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) to each of the eight (8) state institutions of higher learning and the sum of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) to each of the fifteen (15) public community and junior colleges to implement the training required in House Bill No. 1438, 2018 Regular Session, and shall use the remaining funds to provide training and educational programming available to all higher education institutions, community colleges, and other interested parties on the subject of sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking, and best practices for preventing and responding to the same.

     SECTION 3.  The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any monies in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2018.
