MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE

House Bill 1597

AN ACT MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION TO THE DIVISION OF MEDICAID FOR THE PURPOSE OF INCREASING THE NUMBER OF FUNDED SLOTS IN THE ELDERLY AND DISABLED WAIVER PROGRAM AND THE TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY/SPINAL CORD INJURY WAIVER PROGRAM FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2021.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  In addition to all other funds appropriated to the Division of Medicaid, the following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Division of Medicaid for the purpose of increasing the number of funded slots in the Elderly and Disabled Waiver program and the Traumatic Brain Injury/Spinal Cord Injury Waiver program, as provided in Section 2 of this act, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2020, and ending June 30, 2021............... $ 3,532,750.00.

     SECTION 2.  The money appropriated under Section 1 of this act shall be expended by the Division of Medicaid as follows:

          (a)  One Million Seven Hundred Seventy-four Thousand Dollars ($1,774,000.00) shall be expended to increase the number of funded slots in the Elderly and Disabled Waiver program by five hundred (500) slots; and

          (b)  One Million Seven Hundred Fifty-eight Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars ($1,758,750.00) shall be expended to increase the number of funded slots in the Traumatic Brain Injury/Spinal Cord Injury Waiver program by two hundred fifty (250) slots.

     SECTION 3.  The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2020.
