House Bill 1417

AN ACT TO CREATE THE BRODERICK RASHAD DANTI DIXON ACT; TO PROHIBIT PLEA BARGAINS OR DEALS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  This act shall be known and may be cited as the "Broderick Rashad Danti Dixon Act."

     SECTION 2.  Notwithstanding any other law or court rule to the contrary, no district attorney or assistant district attorney is authorized to offer or accept and plea bargain or deal in any criminal case unless the victim or if the victim is deceased, the family of the victim, agrees to the terms of the plea bargain or deal.  All criminal cases shall be prosecuted to the fullest effect.

     SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2016.
