AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 21-19-67, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITY OF ANY MUNICIPALITY TO DONATE FUNDS TO MISSISSIPPI CHILDREN'S HOME SERVICES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 21-19-67, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
21-19-67. The governing authority of any municipality in the state, in its discretion, is authorized to donate, out of any funds in the municipal treasury, to any chartered chapter of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and to any program of Mississippi Children's Home Services located within the municipality, provided that the cumulative sum of donations to either organization located within the municipality does not exceed the amount generated in the municipality by one-fourth (1/4) mill on all of the taxable property within the municipality, during the fiscal year in which the donations are made. Nothing in this section authorizes the imposition of additional tax.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2012.
