House Bill 1252

AN ACT TO PROVIDE CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION REGARDING PUBLIC PROCEEDINGS AND INFORMATION; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  Public proceedings of the Public Service Commission shall be webcast, and each proceeding shall be placed on the commission's website for later viewing at any time.

     (2)  Transcripts of public proceedings of the Public Service Commission shall be placed on the commission's website for public access at no charge.

     (3)  All discovery and responses not deemed confidential shall be placed on the commission's website in the relevant docket for the public to access.

     (4)  If a party before the Public Service Commission files information it deems to be confidential, that party must include in its filing why the information should be deemed confidential.  The commission shall then schedule a hearing to make a determination on the confidentiality of the information, and the commission shall deem information as public unless there is a clear and substantial reason to classify it as confidential.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2021.
