AN ACT TO DIRECT THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES TO REVISE THE FORMULA THAT IS USED TO CALCULATE THE BENEFITS UNDER THE SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (SNAP) IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF MONTHLY BENEFITS FOR PERSONS AGE SIXTY-FIVE YEARS AND OLDER; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The Department of Human Services shall revise the formula that is used to calculate the benefits under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) regarding allowable resources, income and deductions in order to increase the amount of monthly benefits for persons age sixty-five (65) years and older.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2017.
