House Bill 1008
AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT NO JUDGE SHALL REDUCE THE STATUTORY MINIMUM IMPOSED FOR ANY FELONY OFFENSE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, no judge may reduce any minimum sentence provided by law for any felony offense. The mandatory minimum sentence for any felony offense shall not be reduced or suspended nor shall a person convicted of any such felony offense be eligible for probation or parole until the minimum amount of the sentence shall have been served as allowable under probation and parole law.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2012.
