AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 37-11-21, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO INCLUDE STUDENTS IN THE LIST OF PERSONS WHO MAY BE CHARGED WITH THE ABUSE OF CERTAIN SCHOOL OFFICIALS OR PERSONNEL; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 37-11-21, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
37-11-21. If any student, parent, guardian or other person in any manner abuses any superintendent, principal, teacher, school board member, school bus driver or any other school official or any student while school is in session or at a school-related activity, in the presence of school pupils or personnel, that person shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine of not less than Ten Dollars ($10.00) nor more than Fifty Dollars ($50.00).
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2011.
