AMENDMENT NO 1 TO COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO 1 PROPOSED TO
House Bill No. 1677

AMEND under line 284 by inserting the following as a new subsection:
(*) (a) In the event that the geographic boundaries of the city are expanded, by annexation or otherwise, the authority shall likewise expand its service to include such new geographic areas.
(b) The authority may, by a majority vote of the board created in Section 5 of this act, expand service to include any county or municipality that, by a majority vote of its governing board, elects to enter into an agreement with the authority for water and wastewater services.
FURTHER, AMEND on line 286 by inserting the word "initial" before the word "board" in the second sentence.
FURTHER, AMEND under line 322 by inserting the following:
In the event that the authority expands the geographic boundaries of its service area by annexation, agreement or any other means, board membership shall be expanded by one (1) member who lives or works in each new service area to represent the interests of customers served in such area. Members added due to such expansion shall be appointed by either a majority of the members of the board of supervisors or the mayor of the municipality, as appropriate.
FURTHER, AMEND on line 804 by deleting the word "and".
FURTHER, AMEND under line 807 by inserting the following as new paragraphs:
(*) To expand the geographic boundaries of its service area according to annexation, agreement or other appropriate means as provided for in this act; and
(*) To contract with counties and municipalities to provide water and wastewater services according to the provisions of this act.
FURTHER, AMEND the title to conform.
