AMENDMENT NO 1 PROPOSED TO

 

Cmte Sub for House Bill No. 1413

 

BY: Representative Roberson

 

     AMEND on lines 25 and 30 by striking "five (5)" and inserting in lieu thereof: "nine (9)".

     AMEND further on line 27 by inserting after "counsel" the following:

"of the appellant's own choosing and retained at his or her own expense".

     AMEND further on line 32 by inserting after the period, the following:

"The provisions of this section do not preclude any student, or the parent or legal guardian of any student, who is subject to suspension, from requesting a due process hearing of the local school board for any suspension amounting to less than nine (9) days; however, the decision to hear any such request is reserved to the discretion of the local school board to whom the request is made."

     AMEND further the title to conform.
