1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring Prudential Spirit of Community Award Distinguished Finalist
1.3Claire Baker.
1.4WHEREAS, the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards are part of the nation's largest
1.5youth recognition program, based exclusively on volunteer service, and more than 30,000
1.6students across the nation participated in this year's program; and
1.7WHEREAS, Totino-Grace senior Claire Baker was named a Distinguished Finalist for the
1.82015 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards; and
1.9WHEREAS, Claire began collecting shoes for those left destitute by the earthquake in
1.10Haiti five years ago; and
1.11WHEREAS, since that time, Claire has collected and donated over 90,000 pairs of shoes
1.12and has traveled to Haiti three times to participate in their distribution directly, earning her a
1.13lifetime achievement award from international aid organization Soles4Souls; and
1.14NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.15recognizes Claire Baker for her sustained commitment to the people of Haiti and congratulates
1.16her on being named a Distinguished Finalist in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.
1.17BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.18enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.19Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Claire Baker.
