1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the Wadena Soil & Water Conservation District on its 60th Anniversary.
1.3WHEREAS, proper conservation of soil and water along with proper land use both throughout
1.4the state and across the country has protected soil and cleaned water that ensures a strong economy,
1.5a healthy environment, and preservation of natural resources for future generations; and
1.6WHEREAS, the laws of the United States recognize that encouraging and developing the
1.7conservation of soil and water is fundamental to the environmental health and economic well-being
1.8and security of the nation; and
1.9WHEREAS, on May 26, 1958, the Wadena Soil & Water Conservation District was organized
1.10by local farmers with the help of the Agriculture Extension Service to achieve and maintain the
1.11highest quality and quantity of natural resources possible; and
1.12WHEREAS, the Wadena Soil & Water Conservation District has expanded to fulfilling the
1.13crucial role of providing proper conservation of soil and water in the district, and has advanced the
1.14ability of landowners to preserve their lands and the environmental health of the state; and
1.15WHEREAS, local farms and landowners and the people of this state have benefited from
1.16the work of the Wadena Soil & Water Conservation District for more than two-quarters of a century;
1.17and
1.18NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.19recognizes and appreciates the excellent work of the Wadena Soil & Water Conservation District
1.20on behalf of local farms and landowners of the district and of this state and expresses best wishes
1.21for the continued success of the Wadena Soil & Water Conservation District in the future.
1.22BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.23enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
2.1Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the Wadena Soil &
2.2Water Conservation District.
