1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the 2014 Win-E-Mac Lady Patriots, Class A state basketball
1.3champions.
1.4WHEREAS, scholastic sports teach the principles of sportsmanship and fair play,
1.5contribute toward healthy citizenship, and provide educational opportunities; and
1.6WHEREAS, girls' basketball has a long and storied history in Minnesota, spanning over
1.7100 years; and
1.8WHEREAS, Win-E-Mac High School earned an unseeded berth in the Minnesota State
1.9High School Class A girls' basketball tournament held March 20-22, 2014; and
1.10WHEREAS, the Lady Patriots powered past Mountain Iron-Buhl and edged Mankato
1.11Loyola to reach the championship game; and
1.12WHEREAS, the Lady Patriots went on to defeat defending champion Minneota 61 - 53 in
1.13the final to capture their school's first ever state championship in girls' basketball and finish their
1.14season with an outstanding record of 31 - 2; and
1.15NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.16extends congratulations to the players, coaches, and staff of the Win-E-Mac High School girls
1.17basketball team on winning the state championship.
1.18BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.19an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
1.20the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Randy Bruer,
1.21Superintendent of Win-E-Mac Public Schools.
