1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring Sydney Erhardt of Cannon Falls High School for winning the state
1.3championship in extemporaneous speaking.
1.4WHEREAS, high school speech competition demands expansive intelligence, steely
1.5nerves, and verbal faculty; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Minnesota State High School Speech Tournament was held on Saturday,
1.7April 12, 2014; and
1.8WHEREAS, Cannon Falls student Sydney Erhardt took the state champion title in the
1.9Extemporaneous Speaking category with her speech on the prospects of European economies in
1.102013; and
1.11WHEREAS, in 2012 Sydney finished third in the state in Extemporaneous Speaking as a
1.12freshman and in 2013 she took the Class A title; and
1.13NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.14it recognizes the precocious talents and diligent study of Sydney Erhardt and congratulates her
1.15on her state title in speech.
1.16BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.17enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.18Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Sydney Erhardt.
