1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the service of Chong Neng Her.
1.3WHEREAS, Chong Neng Her was born on December 31, 1967, in Nais Tis, Laos, to parents
1.4Song Chue Her and Zang Vang; and
1.5WHEREAS, on September 12, 1979, Her left Laos to go to Ban Vinai Camp in Thailand;
1.6and
1.7WHEREAS, Her married his wife, Ying Vang, in 1985 and for three years worked distributing
1.8food rations to refugees in Ban Vinai Camp; and
1.9WHEREAS, he and his wife arrived in the United States in 1988, sponsored by his older
1.10brother, Cher Pao Her; and
1.11WHEREAS, Her and his family settled in Fresno, California, where he worked as an abattoir
1.12worker, facility maintainer, vehicle detailer, and self-employed produce handler; and
1.13WHEREAS, in 1992, he became a volunteer security officer and helped organize the Fresno
1.14Hmong New Year; and
1.15WHEREAS, Her and his family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, on May 15, 2000; and
1.16WHEREAS, he continued his community service by helping with Hmong veterans
1.17organizations in 2011, serving as a representative on the Hmong 18-Council in 2012, and working
1.18with Hawj United of Minnesota in 2017; and
1.19WHEREAS, Her currently resides in Minnesota with his wife and nine children and continues
1.20to serve the Hmong community; and
1.21NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.22congratulates Chong Neng Her for his many years of outstanding service to his community and
1.23state.
1.24BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.25enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.26Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Chong Neng Her.
