1.1A Senate resolution
1.2recognizing the Nation of Patriots 2014 flag ride.
1.3WHEREAS, Nation of Patriots is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that
1.4provides financial support to the families of servicemembers wounded in the course of preserving
1.5and protecting the United States and its people, values, and ideals; and
1.6WHEREAS, every year more than 100,000 motorcyclists, including many veterans,
1.7participate in the Nation of Patriots flag-bearing ride across each of the 48 contiguous states in
1.8100 days; and
1.9WHEREAS, the ride is intended to honor America's past, present, and fallen military
1.10men and women, and raise money and awareness for wounded veterans and the risks our
1.11servicemembers continue to face every day; and
1.12WHEREAS, on August 26, soldiers from American Legion Post 56, Veterans of Foreign
1.13Wars, and Albert Lea Armory will receive the flag at Bergdale Harley Davidson in Albert Lea
1.14and fold it for a day of display; and
1.15WHEREAS, the following day, a ceremony will be held as the flag is securely fastened
1.16to the flag-bearer's motorcycle and over 100 Nation of Patriots riders begin their route from
1.17Albert Lea to Waukon, Iowa; and
1.18NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.19recognizes the Nation of Patriots riders and supporters for their dedication to American military
1.20members and salutes their efforts in this year's flag ride.
2.1BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
2.2enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
2.3Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Nation of Patriots.
