1.1A Senate resolution
1.2commending Patrol Inspector Robert H. Lobdell.
1.3WHEREAS, the United States Border Patrol (USBP) is a federal law enforcement component
1.4of the United States Customs and Border Protection. The USBP is composed of federal agents who
1.5work to secure and protect the borders of the United States; and
1.6WHEREAS, Robert H. Lobdell was a native of St. Paul and served with the United States
1.7Army Air Service during World War I, serving overseas in France; and
1.8WHEREAS, he joined the United States Border Patrol on June 16, 1928, as a Patrol Inspector;
1.9and
1.10WHEREAS, six months later, Patrol Inspector Lobdell was shot and killed while in the line
1.11of duty on the night of December 25, 1928, near Roseau, Minnesota; and
1.12WHEREAS, Patrol Inspector Lobdell was the 14th of 130 USBP inspectors and agents killed
1.13in the line of duty and the only one in the state of Minnesota; and
1.14WHEREAS, on May 20, 2022, Patrol Inspector Robert H. Lobdell will be recognized in a
1.15ceremony dedicating a portion of Highway 11 near Roseau in his honor; and
1.16NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.17honors the life and commitment of Patrol Inspector Robert H. Lobdell and recognizes his sacrifice
1.18in service to the state.
1.19BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.20enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.21Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the family of Robert
1.22Lobdell.
