1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Hastings Hawks on their contributions to their community.
1.3WHEREAS, those civic-minded organizations who work tirelessly in their communities
1.4perform an important service deserving of special legislative recognition; and
1.5WHEREAS, the Hastings Hawks, an amateur baseball team, play at Veterans Park, a beautiful
1.6ballpark with a 385-foot fence that has admission and concession prices that are family friendly;
1.7and
1.8WHEREAS, it is part of the Veterans Athletic Complex operated by the City of Hastings
1.9Parks and Recreation Department that consists of four lighted adult softball fields with 285-foot
1.10fences, four full-size multipurpose fields (one with lights), a playground set, and two buildings with
1.11indoor bathrooms and concessions; and
1.12WHEREAS, the fields are open from April to October and are used on a weekly basis by
1.13youth soccer, youth softball, adult softball, adult kickball, and youth baseball in addition to Hawks
1.14games; and
1.15WHEREAS, recently, the Hawks partnered with the United Heroes League, an organization
1.16whose mission is "empowering military families to stay healthy and active by battling the financial
1.17burdens associated with sports," and the Minnesota Twins to host a youth baseball clinic for kids
1.18from military families at Veterans Park; and
1.19WHEREAS, the United Heroes League helps to provide free equipment, camps, and grants
1.20to military families and putting on such clinics is a way for them and athletic teams to teach skills
1.21and to appreciate and say thank you to those military families; and
1.22NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.23congratulates the Hastings Hawks on their contributions to their community and to Minnesota Town
1.24Team Baseball.
1.25BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.26enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.27Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the Hastings Hawks.
