1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to public safety; traffic regulations; prohibiting parking in designated
1.3bicycle lanes;amending Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 169.34, subdivision 1.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 169.34, subdivision 1, is amended to read:
1.6    Subdivision 1. Prohibitions. (a) No person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle,
1.7except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the
1.8directions of a police officer or traffic-control device, in any of the following places:
1.9    (1) on a sidewalk;
1.10    (2) in front of a public or private driveway;
1.11    (3) within an intersection;
1.12    (4) within ten feet of a fire hydrant;
1.13    (5) on a crosswalk;
1.14    (6) within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection;
1.15    (7) within 30 feet upon the approach to any flashing beacon, stop sign, or
1.16traffic-control signal located at the side of a roadway;
1.17    (8) between a safety zone and the adjacent curb or within 30 feet of points on the
1.18curb immediately opposite the ends of a safety zone, unless a different length is indicated
1.19by signs or markings;
1.20    (9) within 50 feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing;
1.21    (10) within 20 feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station and on the side of
1.22a street opposite the entrance to any fire station within 75 feet of said entrance when
1.23properly signposted;
2.1    (11) alongside or opposite any street excavation or obstruction when such stopping,
2.2standing, or parking would obstruct traffic;
2.3    (12) on the roadway side of any vehicle stopped or parked at the edge or curb of a
2.4street;
2.5    (13) upon any bridge or other elevated structure upon a highway or within a highway
2.6tunnel, except as otherwise provided by ordinance;
2.7(14) within a designated bicycle lane, except when posted signs permit parking; or
2.8    (14) (15) at any place where official signs prohibit stopping.
2.9    (b) No person shall move a vehicle not owned by such person into any prohibited
2.10area or away from a curb such distance as is unlawful.
2.11    (c) No person shall, for camping purposes, leave or park a travel trailer on or within
2.12the limits of any highway or on any highway right-of-way, except where signs are erected
2.13designating the place as a campsite.
2.14    (d) No person shall stop or park a vehicle on a street or highway when directed or
2.15ordered to proceed by any peace officer invested by law with authority to direct, control,
2.16or regulate traffic.
