1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. [168.122] SPECIAL PLATES SHOWING SUPPORT FOR FAMILY
1.6FARMERS.
1.7 Subdivision 1. Issuance and design. Notwithstanding section 168.1293, the
1.8commissioner shall issue special plates showing support for family farmers to an applicant
1.9who:
1.10(1) is a registered owner of a passenger automobile, one-ton pickup truck,
1.11motorcycle, or recreational motor vehicle;
1.12(2) pays a fee of $10 for each set of license plates applied for;
1.13(3) pays the registration tax as required under section 168.013; and
1.14(4) complies with this chapter and rules governing registration of motor vehicles
1.15and licensing of drivers.
1.16 Subd. 2. Design. The commissioner, in consultation with organizations that
1.17represent Minnesota farmers, shall design the special plate emblem. The final design of
1.18the special plate is subject to the approval of the commissioner.
1.19 Subd. 3. Plates transfer. On payment of a transfer fee of $5, plates issued under
1.20this section may be transferred to another passenger automobile, one-ton pickup truck,
1.21motorcycle, or recreational motor vehicle registered to the individual to whom the special
1.22plates were issued.
1.23 Subd. 4. Record. The commissioner shall maintain a record of the number of
1.24special plates issued under this section.
2.1 Subd. 5. Fees credited. Fees collected under subdivision 1, clause (2), must be
2.2credited to the vehicle services operating account in the special revenue fund.
2.3EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective January 1, 2012.
