1.2relating to the legislature; providing office space in the Capitol building for all
1.3senators;amending Minnesota Statutes 2011 Supplement, section 16B.2405.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2011 Supplement, section 16B.2405, is amended to read:
1.616B.2405 CAPITOL BUILDING POWERS AND DUTIES.
1.7The commissioner, upon receipt of funding for these purposes, shall:
1.8(1) maintain and operate the Capitol building and grounds according to section
1.916B.24
and other applicable law;
1.10(2) designate a project manager to oversee and manage predesign, design, and
1.11construction contracts and funding for all modifications to the Capitol building;
1.12(3) manage design and construction projects and funding for the Capitol building
1.13according to section16B.31 and other applicable law;
1.14(4) lease space in the Capitol building, as provided in section16B.24 , to state
1.15agencies, constitutional officers, and the court administrator on behalf of the judicial
1.16branch and allocate space in the Capitol building to the legislative branch as determined
1.17by the commission and consistent with the requirements of this act;
1.18(5) provide information about the Capitol building to the commission, legislative
1.19bodies, and others as needed regarding maintenance, operation, leasing, condition
1.20assessments, design, and construction projects; and
1.21(6) assist the State Capitol Preservation Commission with performance of its duties
1.22as needed.
1.23EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
2.1 Sec. 2. CAPITOL BUILDING OFFICE SPACE FOR SENATORS.
2.2Office space in the Capitol building must be provided to all state senators by
2.3January 1, 2015. The commissioner of administration and the State Capitol Preservation
2.4Commission shall take all necessary actions, including the reallocation of existing space,
2.5to implement this section.
2.6EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
