1.2proposing an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, article I, by adding a
1.3section; providing for gender equality under the law.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
1.6The following amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, article I, is proposed to the
1.7people. If the amendment is adopted, a new section will read as follows:
1.8Sec. 18. Equality under the law shall not be abridged or denied on account of gender.
1.9 Sec. 2. SUBMISSION TO VOTERS.
1.10The proposed amendment must be submitted to the people at the 2014 general
1.11election. If ratified, the amendment is effective January 1, 2015. The question submitted
1.12shall be:
1.13"Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to provide that equality under the
1.14law must not be abridged or denied on account of gender?
