1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to environment; requiring coordination with Wisconsin in establishing a
1.3phosphorus standard for Lake Pepin.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. COORDINATION OF MINNESOTA AND WISCONSIN
1.6PHOSPHORUS STANDARD; LAKE PEPIN.
1.7The commissioner of the Pollution Control Agency shall coordinate with the
1.8Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in establishing a phosphorus standard for
1.9Lake Pepin and shall advocate implementation of a phosphorus standard that considers
1.10nutrient impacts on algal growth applicable during the June to September growing season
1.11only. If necessary, the commissioner may engage in a conference with the Wisconsin
1.12Department of Natural Resources according to section 103 of the Clean Water Act, United
1.13States Code, title 33, section 1253, to resolve any discrepancies in the states' respective
1.14standards.
