1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to child support; instructing the commissioner to initiate a foreign
1.3reciprocal agreement.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. RECIPROCAL AGREEMENT; CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT.
1.6The commissioner of human services shall initiate procedures no later than July
1.71, 2011, to enter into a reciprocal agreement with Bermuda for the establishment and
1.8enforcement of child support obligations pursuant to United States Code, title 42, section
1.9659a(d).
1.10EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective upon Bermuda's written acceptance
1.11and agreement to enforce Minnesota child support orders. If Bermuda does not accept and
1.12declines to enforce Minnesota orders, this section expires December 31, 2012.
