1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to agriculture; modifying the classification of horses as livestock;
1.3amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 17.459, subdivision 2; repealing
1.4Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 17.459, subdivision 3.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 17.459, subdivision 2, is amended to read:
1.7    Subd. 2. Agricultural pursuit. Raising horses and other equines is agricultural
1.8production and an agricultural pursuit. Horse breeding farms, horse training farms, horse
1.9boarding farms, or farms combining those purposes, are an intensive agricultural use that
1.10may be accomplished on limited acreage. These intensive agricultural uses are necessary
1.11for horses in order to control the feeding, safety, and overall condition of the animals.

1.12    Sec. 2. REPEALER.
1.13Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 17.459, subdivision 3, is repealed.
