1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to health; requiring the commissioner of health to assess and report on
1.3quality of care for ST elevation myocardial infarction response and treatment;
1.4proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 144.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. [144.497] ST ELEVATION MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION.
1.7The commissioner of health shall assess and report on the quality of care provided in
1.8the state for ST elevation myocardial infarction response and treatment. The commissioner
1.9shall:
1.10(1) utilize and analyze data provided by ST elevation myocardial infarction receiving
1.11centers to the ACTION Registry-Get with the guidelines or an equivalent data platform
1.12that does not identify individuals or associate specific ST elevation myocardial infarction
1.13heart attack events with an identifiable individual;
1.14(2) quarterly post a summary report of the data in aggregate form on the Department
1.15of Health Web site;
1.16(3) annually inform the legislative committees with jurisdiction over public health
1.17of progress toward improving the quality of care and patient outcomes for ST elevation
1.18myocardial infarctions; and
1.19(4) coordinate to the extent possible with national voluntary health organizations
1.20involved in ST elevation myocardial infarction heart attack quality improvement to
1.21encourage ST elevation myocardial infarction receiving centers to report data consistent
1.22with nationally recognized guidelines on the treatment of individuals with confirmed ST
1.23elevation myocardial infarction heart attacks within the state and encourage sharing of
2.1information among health care providers on ways to improve the quality of care of ST
2.2elevation myocardial infarction patients in Minnesota.
