SENATE BILL No. 719

 

 

August 5, 2009, Introduced by Senators ALLEN, PAPPAGEORGE and HARDIMAN and referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1895 PA 198, entitled

 

"An act to establish a law uniform with the laws of other states

relating to the sealing of deeds and other written instruments,"

 

by amending section 2 (MCL 565.232).

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 2. (1) A seal of a court, public officer, or corporation

 

may be impressed affixed in any of the following ways:

 

     (a) Impressed directly upon the instrument or writing to be

 

sealed. , or

 

     (b) Impressed upon wafer, wax, or other adhesive substance

 

affixed thereto, to the instrument or writing or upon paper or

 

other similar substance affixed thereto to the instrument or

 

writing by mucilage or other an adhesive substance.

 

     (c) Affixed electronically upon the instrument or writing to

 


be sealed, or affixed electronically upon an electronic document.

 

     (2) An instrument or writing duly executed in the corporate

 

name of a corporation , which shall that has not have adopted a

 

corporate seal, if executed by the proper officers of the

 

corporation under any seal, shall be deemed considered to have been

 

executed under the corporate seal.
