SENATE BILL No. 419

(As amended December 3, 2010)

 

April 1, 2009, Introduced by Senators KUIPERS, BARCIA, GLEASON, GEORGE, ALLEN, WHITMER, McMANUS, CROPSEY, JACOBS and CLARKE and referred to the Committee on Health Policy.

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1971 PA 22, entitled

 

"An act prescribing the age at which persons may donate their

blood,"

 

by amending section 1 (MCL 722.41), as amended by 1981 PA 228.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 1. (1) A person This act shall be known and may be cited

 

as "Jenna's law".

 

     (2) An individual who is 17 years of age or over may donate

 

blood in a voluntary and noncompensatory blood program without the

 

necessity of obtaining parental his or her parent's or legal

 

guardian's permission or authorization.

 

     (3) An individual who is 16 years of age may donate blood in a

 

voluntary and noncompensatory blood program with his or her

parent's or legal guardian's permission or authorization.

           [Enacting section 1.  This amendatory act does not take effect unless all the following bills of the of the 95th Legislature are enacted into law:

           (a) House Bill No. 4183.

     (b) House Bill No. 4476.]
