A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled
"The revised school code,"
(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1170c.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 1170c. (1) In addition to the requirements under section
1170b, not later than February 1, 2020, the department shall
develop or adopt and make available to all public schools that
offer grade 9 a model instructional video regarding the dangers of
prescription opioid drug abuse that is appropriate for pupils in
grade 9. For the purposes of this section, the department may adopt
an instructional video provided by Families Against Narcotics.
(2) Beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, the board of a
school district or board of directors of a public school academy
that operates a school that offers grade 9 shall ensure that the
model instructional video described in subsection (1) is
implemented in the grade 9 curriculum of each school described in
this subsection.
