SENATE BILL NO. 356

April 14, 2021, Introduced by Senator MCBROOM and referred to the Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety.

A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled

"Revised judicature act of 1961,"

by amending section 526 (MCL 600.526), as amended by 2012 PA 22.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 526. (1) Except as provided in subsection (2), the The twenty-fifth judicial circuit consists of the county of Marquette and has 2 judges.

(2) Beginning on the earlier of the following dates, the twenty-fifth judicial circuit has 1 judge:

(a) The date on which a vacancy occurs in the office of circuit judge in the twenty-fifth judicial circuit.

(b) The beginning date of the term for which an incumbent circuit judge in the twenty-fifth judicial circuit no longer seeks election or reelection to that office.

Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days after the date it is enacted into law.
