            Rep. Byrnes offered the following resolution:

            House Resolution No. 266. 

            A resolution to declare the week of May 10 to May 16, 2010, as Senior Housing Awareness Week in the state of Michigan.

            Whereas, It is essential that elderly adults of Michigan be able to find suitable and appropriate housing for their special needs; and

            Whereas, The need for housing for older residents will grow as the aging population grows; and

            Whereas, Locating appropriate housing is a time-consuming and difficult process; and

            Whereas, Information is power. The better informed our older citizens are about a wide range of housing choices, the better their decisions about where to live will be; and

            Whereas, May is Older Adults Month; and

            Whereas, Senior Housing Awareness Week is an opportunity to raise awareness in Michigan of appropriate and affordable housing for our older citizens; and

            Whereas, The state of Michigan wishes to commend and promote our many fine facilities that currently house many older citizens; now, therefore, be it

            Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body declare the week of May 10 through May 16, 2010, as Senior Housing Awareness Week in the state of Michigan; and be it further

            Resolved, That the Housing Bureau for Seniors of Washtenaw County be commended for promoting this effort and that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Housing Bureau for Seniors.
