HOUSE BILL No. 6569

 

 

December 4, 2018, Introduced by Reps. Bellino, Kahle, Brann, Lucido and LaFave and referred to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

 

     A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled

 

"Michigan vehicle code,"

 

(MCL 257.1 to 257.923) by adding section 811hh.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 811hh. (1) The secretary of state shall develop under

 

section 811e and shall issue under section 811f a fund-raising

 

plate recognizing Families Against Narcotics. A fund-raising plate

 

developed under this section must be of a design determined by the

 

secretary of state.

 

     (2) The secretary of state shall transfer the donation money

 

from the sale of fund-raising plates recognizing Families Against

 

Narcotics collected under section 811f to the state treasurer, who

 

shall credit the donation money to the Families Against Narcotics

 

fund created in subsection (3).

 


     (3) The Families Against Narcotics fund is created within the

 

state treasury. The state treasurer may receive money or other

 

assets from any source for deposit into the fund. The state

 

treasurer shall direct the investment of the fund. The state

 

treasurer shall credit to the fund interest and earnings from fund

 

investments.

 

     (4) Money in the Families Against Narcotics fund at the close

 

of the fiscal year must remain in the fund and must not lapse to

 

the general fund.

 

     (5) The state treasurer shall disburse money in the Families

 

Against Narcotics fund on a quarterly basis to Families Against

 

Narcotics.

 

     (6) The state treasurer shall be the administrator of the

 

Families Against Narcotics fund for auditing purposes.

 

     (7) Money disbursed from the Families Against Narcotics fund

 

to Families Against Narcotics under this section must be expended

 

on treatment, education, and support for individuals affected by

 

drug addiction, such as opioid addiction, and treatment, education,

 

and support for the loved ones of individuals affected by drug

 

addiction, such as opioid addiction.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days

 

after the date it is enacted into law.
