HOUSE BILL NO. 6461

A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

"The revised school code,"

(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1176.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 1176. (1) Subject to state and federal privacy laws, if a school district, intermediate school district, or public school academy receives notification that a pupil enrolled in, an employee of, or an individual assigned to work at a school operated by the school district, intermediate school district, or public school academy has tested positive for COVID-19, the board of the school district or intermediate school district or board of directors of the public school academy shall ensure that all of the following individuals receive notification concerning the positive test:

(a) Each pupil enrolled in the school district, intermediate school district, or public school academy.

(b) The parent or legal guardian of each pupil enrolled in the school district, intermediate school district, or public school academy.

(c) Each employee of the school district, intermediate school district, or public school academy.

(d) Each individual assigned to work at the school district, intermediate school district, or public school academy.

(2) Subject to state and federal privacy laws, a notification concerning a positive test that is sent to individuals described in subsection (1)(a) to (d) as required under subsection (1) must identify the school in which the individual who tested positive for COVID-19 is enrolled, employed, or assigned to work, as applicable.
