HOUSE BILL No. 6451

 

 

October 17, 2018, Introduced by Reps. Greimel, Zemke, Durhal, LaGrand and Neeley and referred to the Committee on Insurance.

 

     A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled

 

"The insurance code of 1956,"

 

(MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 2116b.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 2116b. An insurer shall not charge or collect a fee or

 

any other money for or in connection with a policy of automobile

 

insurance other than premiums calculated using the following:

 

     (a) Rates under manuals of classification, manuals of rules

 

and rates, rating plans, and modifications of manuals of

 

classification, manuals of rules and rates, and rating plans, filed

 

under this chapter.

 

     (b) Rates under manuals of classification, manuals of rules

 

and rates, rating plans, and modifications of manuals of

 

classification, manuals of rules and rates, and rating plans,

 

relating to the automobile insurance placement facility filed under

 

section 3340.

 

     (c) The assessment for the automobile theft prevention

 

authority under section 6107.

 

     (d) The premium for the catastrophic claims association,

 

recognized in the insurer's rates as provided in section 3104(22).
