HOUSE BILL NO. 5972

referred to the Committee on Judiciary.
A bill to amend 1971 PA 140, entitled
"Glenn Steil state revenue sharing act of 1971,"
(MCL 141.901 to 141.921) by adding section 17c.
the people of the state of michigan enact:
Sec. 17c. (1) Except as otherwise
provided in subsection (2), the state treasurer shall withhold 15% from the
total annual payment amount that a county, city, village, or township receives
under this act or other payments representing revenue sharing payments under an
appropriation act for each year or portion of a year that the sheriff's
department for that county or the police department for that city, village, or
township fails to comply with the uniform crime reporting requirements
described in section 1 of 1968 PA 319, MCL 28.251, as determined by the state
treasurer.
(2) The state treasurer shall not withhold constitutional revenue sharing payments described in section 10 of article IX of the state constitution of 1963 for a failure to comply described in subsection (1).
