HOUSE BILL No. 5850

 

September 11, 2012, Introduced by Reps. Bauer, Lane, Segal, Barnett, Hovey-Wright, Bledsoe, Byrum, Slavens, Lipton, Johnson, Liss, Rogers, Denby, Hughes, Kowall, Shaughnessy, LaFontaine, Price, Haines, Jenkins, Stapleton, Brown and Oakes and referred to the Committee on Transportation.

 

     A bill to amend 2010 PA 347, entitled

 

"Girl scouts of Michigan fund act,"

 

by amending sections 3 and 4 (MCL 206.923 and 206.924).

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 3. (1) The girl scouts of Michigan fund is created in the

 

department to provide funds for donation to any girl scout

 

organization located in this state to prepare young people to make

 

ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in

 

them the values of the scout oath and law.

 

     (2) The state treasurer shall credit to the fund all amounts

 

appropriated for this purpose under section 435 of the income tax

 

act of 1967, 1967 PA 281, MCL 206.435, and all amounts received

 

from the sale of a fund-raising license plate recognizing the girl


 

scouts of America under section 811v of the Michigan vehicle code,

 

1949 PA 300, MCL 257.811v.

 

     (3) The fund shall consist of the money credited to the fund

 

pursuant to section 435 of the income tax act of 1967, 1967 PA 281,

 

MCL 206.435, the money credited to the fund pursuant to section

 

811v of the Michigan vehicle code, 1949 PA 300, MCL 257.811v, any

 

interest and earnings accruing from the saving and investment of

 

that money, and other appropriations, money, or other things of

 

value received by the fund.

 

     (4) The state treasurer shall direct the investment of the

 

fund.

 

     Sec. 4. (1) The money, interest, and earnings of the fund

 

shall be expended solely for the purposes described in this act.

 

     (2) Money Subject to subsection (3), money granted or received

 

as a gift or donation to the fund is available for distribution

 

upon appropriation to each county from which a contribution, gift,

 

or donation was received.

 

     (3) Money raised from the sale of a fund-raising plate

 

recognizing the girl scouts of America under section 811v of the

 

Michigan vehicle code, 1949 PA 300, MCL 257.811v, shall be

 

distributed as provided in section 811v(3) of the Michigan vehicle

 

code, 1949 PA 300, MCL 257.811v.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect

 

unless Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No. 5849(request no.

 

06160'12) of the 96th Legislature is enacted into law.
