HOUSE BILL No. 5644

 

May 16, 2012, Introduced by Reps. Bledsoe, Durhal, Santana, Tlaib, Hovey-Wright, Stapleton, Barnett, Stallworth, Talabi, Stanley, Lipton, Howze and Oakes and referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

 

     A bill to amend 2006 PA 309, entitled

 

"Self-defense act,"

 

by amending section 4 (MCL 780.974); and to repeal acts and parts

 

of acts.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 4. This act does not diminish an individual's An

 

individual has the right to use deadly force or force other than

 

deadly force in self-defense or defense of another individual as

 

provided by the common law of this state in existence on October 1,

 

2006.

 

     Enacting section 1. (1) Sections 1, 2, and 3 of the self-

 

defense act, 2006 PA 309, MCL 780.971, 780.972, and 780.973, are

 

repealed.

 

     (2) 2006 PA 310, MCL 780.961, is repealed.
