HOUSE BILL NO. 5524

A bill to prohibit members of the legislature from entering into certain nondisclosure agreements.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 1. As used in this act, "nondisclosure agreement" means an agreement or contract that includes a provision or clause that provides that a party to the agreement or contract is prohibited from disclosing, discussing, describing, or commenting upon the agreement or contract or any of its terms.

Sec. 3. (1) Beginning on and after the effective date of this act, a member of the legislature shall not enter into a nondisclosure agreement regarding any work done in that member's legislative capacity.

(2) A nondisclosure agreement entered into in violation of this act is void.

Sec. 5. This act applies to any nondisclosure agreement that is entered into, amended, extended, or renewed on or after the effective date of this act.
