HOUSE BILL NO. 4859

A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled

"Public health code,"

by amending section 1111 (MCL 333.1111).

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 1111. (1) This Subject to subsection (3), this code is intended to be consistent with applicable federal and state law and shall must be construed, when if necessary, to achieve that consistency.

(2) This code shall must be liberally construed for the protection of the health, safety, and welfare of the people of this state.

(3) Notwithstanding any other provision of this code to the contrary, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization do not have jurisdiction in this state. A requirement, mandate, recommendation, instruction, or guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or the World Health Organization has no force or effect and must not be used in this state to justify a mask, vaccine, or medical testing requirement.

Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect December 31, 2024.
