A bill to amend 1969 PA 317, entitled

"Worker's disability compensation act of 1969,"

by amending section 311 (MCL 418.311).

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 311. (1) No Except as provided in subsection (2), compensation shall be must not be paid under this act for any injury which that does not incapacitate the employee from earning full wages, for a period of at least 1 week, but if incapacity extends beyond the period of 1 week, compensation shall begin begins on the eighth day after the injury. If incapacity continues for 2 weeks or longer or if death results from the injury, compensation shall must be computed from the date of the injury.

(2) Subsection (1) does not apply to a COVID-19-related disease, illness, or injury.

(3) As used in this section, "COVID-19" means the disease caused by the novel coronavirus identified as SARS-CoV-2 or a virus mutating from SARS-CoV-2.
