A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled
"The revised school code,"
(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1307.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 1307. Except as may be required under state law, the
board of a school district or intermediate school district or board
of directors of a public school academy shall not adopt, implement,
or maintain a policy that requires a pupil to be suspended or
expelled from school for certain conduct and that does not provide
for the exercise of discretion by school officials in the decision
of whether or not to impose suspension or expulsion from school as
the penalty for the conduct.
