An Act relative to the rights of victims of crimes.



                Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

            SECTION 1. Subsection (t) of section 3 of chapter 258B of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the phrase “telephone number” the following sentence: -

“The criminal history systems board shall promulgate rules and regulations concerning the content and procedure of the notification.”

SECTION 2. Said Section 3 of chapter 258B of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following clause:-

“(w) for any victims, the family members of such victim if the victim is a minor, incompetent or deceased, witnesses and family members of homicide victims who have completed an application for certification with the criminal history systems board, to receive a confirmation letter verifying their certification. The criminal history systems board shall promulgate rules and regulations regulating the content and procedure of the confirmation letters.”
