An Act increasing the penalty for motor vehicle homicide.
��������������� Be
it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court
assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1.� Section 24G of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 14 to 17, inclusive, the words �and a fine of not more than five thousand dollars, or by imprisonment in a jail or house of correction for not less than one year nor more than two and one-half years and a fine of not more than five thousand dollars.� and by inserting in place thereof the following words:-� and a fine of not more than $10,000, or by imprisonment in a jail or house of correction for not less than 1 year nor more than 2 �� years and a fine of not more than $10,000.
SECTION 2.� Said section 24G of said chapter 90, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by striking out, in lines 45 to 48, inclusive, the words �shall be punished by imprisonment in a jail or house of correction for not less than thirty days nor more than two and one-half years, or by a fine of not less than three hundred nor more than three thousand dollars, or both.� and by inserting in place thereof the following words:-� shall be punished by imprisonment in the house of correction for not less than 60 days nor more than 2 � years, or by not more than 5 years in state prison, or by a fine of not less than $600 nor more than $6,000, or by both such fine and imprisonment.�� �����������
