An Act To Authorize Transportation Revenues to be Collected in High
Occupancy Vehicle Lanes from Single Passenger Vehicles.
��������������� Be
it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court
assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 19A of Chapter 6A of the General Laws as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition is hereby amended by adding the following:-
The secretary of transportation is directed to take whatever action is necessary, including but not limited to filing whatever application to the federal government may be required, to implement a program whereby vehicles that do not meet the occupancy criteria of high occupancy vehicle lanes may access said lanes on interstate highway route 93 for a fee.� Any revenue collected from these fees shall be used to offset the debt of the metropolitan highway system attributable to the central artery project and the third harbor tunnel project.
