An Act relative to buses.



��������������� Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.� Section 4C of chapter 89 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 1998 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 2, the word �except� and inserting in place thereof the following word:-and.

SECTION 2.� Said section 4C of said chapter 89, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by adding the following paragraph:-

��������������� For purposes of this section, bus shall be defined as any motor vehicle operated upon a public way in any city or town for the carriage of the passengers for hire in such a manner as to afford a means of transportation similar to that afforded by a railway company by indiscriminately receiving and discharging passengers along the route on which the vehicle is operated or may be running, or for transporting passengers for hire as a business between fixed and regular termini, or transporting passengers for hire under a charter license, special service or school service permit issued by the department.
